Isn't it amazing, our propensity to love again after we have lost a pet we loved dearly? It is so hard to lose them, yet wonderful to be able to give the best home in the world to another sweet, lucky dog. ;)
I firmly believe that our pet that has traveled to the Bridge is not content until he or she leads us to another to love. There will be that familiar jingle of the collar tags and a slight shadow movement that will round a corner and disappear...they have finally left us, their soul now at peace, knowing that another of their kind has the "watch" that they held for so long.
Good dog, Charlie. Good work, Charlie. You did good, honey, you did good.
Always the past and present have enough room for those who have left footprints and those who are still living in our hearts. I just love this site! The essence of each animal's soul is caught perfectly. It is wonderful that a love for animals is shared through such touching photos.
What a discovery ... a blog about the world of dogs with wonderful photos and beautiful words.
We are involved with Golden Retriever rescue, have been a foster home, but have failed at that many times. They now live with us and our life couldn't be happier.
When they leave us, we grieve, remember them forever and soon open our doors to another that needs a home.
I didn't think it was true and worried so much I would only see my dearest Logo (now waiting at the Bridge). But Fenway found all the cracks in my broken heart and patched them up with all of his Fenwayness.
Now, if pressed for a choice, my heart would break again if I had to pick just one.
My wonderful Anatolian Shepherd, Izzy, died of bone cancer on January 30 of this year.
I have recently adopted Bernice, a black lab mix who's a real handful. Hyper-energetic and a total goof-ball. I will miss Izzy until the day I die (best guard dog in the universe and super-maternal toward all things young, of any species) but Bernice, too, has captured my heart.
